Not so veterans put three past kroniz

Kroniz’s hope of getting their season back on track was dealt a blow, when they went down 3-1 to Young Veterans. Kroniz loss means that they are still without victory in the last few games.

Kroniz started out the brighter of the two teams, as Alinordi took on the Young veteran defense straight from the kick off. His darting run ending with a weak shot that was easily saved the goalkeeper.

Young Veterans refused to sit back and allow the Kroniz to dictate the pace of the game. A flurry of chances could have seen them taking the lead early on. However some brilliant defending by kroniz kept the young veterans at bay.

Aliuddin was the first on the end of Azreen’s cross on the 8th minute. However, his attempt was just wide of Young Veterans’s post.

Two minutes later, Pg Suffian came close to breaking the deadlock. His left footed attempt was parried away by the goalkeeper only to the feet of Hadi, who shot it straight back at the keeper.

Azreen was once again the provider on the 10th minute. This time for Sulaiman, who headed straight at the keeper.

Young veterans had no reply for kroniz’s attack and were nearly punished on the 20th minute. Pg Ariffin’s header into the penalty area found an unmarked Aliuddin, who could only put his attempt wide.

Kroniz’s inability to take their chances would prove costly five minutes later. A seemingly routine clearance by the Kroniz defence turned into a catastrophic disaster that gifted the Young veterans with the lead before half time.

Kroniz started the second half the same way they had ended it. Aliuddin’s quick free kick seemed to have caught the entire Young Veterans defence by surprise. The goalkeeper though, was alert and saved it.

Alinordi had another opportunity to equalise. A neat one, two between him and fellow striker Pg Suffian opened up the Young veterans defence only for Alinordi to put his shot over the bar.

Five minutes later, Zainal managed to hit the target. He calmly slotted home Alinordi’s cross to put his team back into the game. Young veteran’s back pass to the keeper was too short, and before the goalkeeper could react, Zainal had intercepted the ball to put his side level 1-1.

Chances came few and far between for Young veterans and it was all kroniz, until a winger run on the 45th minute. A nicely worked set play by the Young veterans saw their striker reacting quickest and headed the ball in goal to put their side back into the lead again.

As Kroniz surged forward in search of a winner, Young veterans took the opportunity to seal the victory.

Young veterans striker was instrumental in his side’s attack once again as he threaded the ball through to No 9. With only the goal keeper to beat, made no mistake and put Young veterans 3-1 up.

Kroniz had one last chance to get on the scoreboard just before full time. This time it was Pg Nizam’s turn, and he too could only shoot wide.

In the dying minutes of the game, Aliuddin came closest to pulling one back for kroniz but his free kick was kept out by the wall.

Kroniz were the more dominant side, but Young Veterans’s ability to turn chances into goals proved to be the key in this game as they ran out comfortable winners.

However all end well for kroniz as they celebrated the defeat with a big feast of Nasi Padang at Sengkurong for the post-mortem.
