Kroniz top first game of the season

20 Jan: Kroniz FC kicked off their 2010 season with a resounding 3-2 victory over SM Awang Semaun (SMAS) at the Belapan Field on Wednesday afternoon and pick up the first win of the season.

In a tie marred by injuries, the Kroniz were missing the services of a few players. This to the advantage of SMAS made a strong surge for goal with an early siege on Kroniz, but the experienced backline lead by Sulaiman made it difficult for the visitors to trouble kroniz goalkeeper Pg Zul.

A sumptuous team move from kroniz produced a piercing through ball for Pg Suffian, who sprinted away from the SMAS defence and crossing the ball forcing SMAS goalkeeper to make an error catching the ball to the delight of Gnal and slot it home to the open net. Kroniz lead the first half 1-0.

Kroniz continued their fine form after the restart, with two more goals from Aliuddin and Asri. However SMAS managed to score two goals. The final score was Kroniz FC 3 SMAS 2.

“We are disappointed to have lost the game,” said SMAS head coach after the game. “Our players could not play according to the style we had in mind, and that was what led to our defeat.”

“SMAS made it very difficult for us as they have a very fit and well-organised team,” said Kroniz team manager praising the visitors’ efficiency in movement and fitness. “The first half was difficult, but it was a good thing that we had the self-belief to win the game.

“We managed to maintain the shape and discipline of the entire team, and fought on to get the deserving goals,” he continued.
